Edison Chen’s girlfriend gets blasted by her ex-husband

Hong Kong singer-actor Edison Chen and model girlfriend Qin Shupei welcomed a baby girl in March this year. The new mother has resumed her gym routine after giving birth in order to get her physique ready for the upcoming 2017 Victoria’s secret fashion show happening in Shanghai this December. However, Shupei’s name did not appear on the most recent list of models that would be walking the show. Her ex-husband Zhao Lei, who is the general manager of Huayi Brothers Media Corporation, immediately took the chance to gloat and make snarky remarks on Weibo the same day.

He first started by saying that he was in an especially good mood and made the statement that “justice would always triumph over evil” and even accused the couple of committing crimes of bigamy. This would not be the first time that he thought his ex-wife had cheated on him with Edison. He later went as far as to curse Shupei for not having an abortion and remarked that the reason she was not chosen for the show was due to her lack of potential.

The 27-year-old model seemed unfazed by his harsh words and did not bother to comment on what was said. Instead, she took to Instagram to express her love for her family with a picture of her daughter on Saturday (Aug 26). She posted another picture the following day of a surfer on a beach and she tagged Edison with the caption “Soon?” indicating that she wanted to go to the beach with him in the near future, to which he replied that he could definitely do that.Shupei and Zhao Lei divorced in 2015 and she began publicly dating Edison in 2016. The model has also previously walked in the 2012 Victoria’s secret show.

Faye Wong and Nicholas Tse spotted in Japan

It has been three years since Faye Wong and Nicholas Tse got back together after their breakup in 2002. The couple have always maintained a low profile and avoided the spotlight, but were recently seen together at an airport in Japan last Thursday (Aug 24).The couple kept to themselves and blended in with the crowd. Nicholas was clad in a simple white hat, a denim jacket over a plain t-shirt and carrying a yellow backpack while Faye opted for a loose grey t-shirt and jeans, paired with sunglasses. It was speculated that the reason the couple took this trip to Japan was to celebrate the Chinese Valentine’s day which happens today (Aug 28) and coincides with Nicholas’s 37th birthday the following day (Aug 29).

On-lookers noticed that they were not behaving intimately and even kept a distance from one another when queuing, both busy on their phones.

Their behaviour here was the complete opposite as to when they were previously photographed at an airport in February this year, where they were seen showering each other with affection, not taking their eyes off each other.Nicholas and Faye reunited in 2014, three years after his high-profile divorce with fellow actress Cecilia Cheung.

WOMAN REPORTS SAF REGULAR FOR DRIVING GRABHITCH, GETS SHAMED BY NETIZENS

A snitch who reported a Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) regular for moonlighting when he used the carpooling app, GrabHitch, has become the subject of ridicule after a netizen brought this case to light last nightAccording to an image that is circulating online, the SAF regular had used GrabHitch to ferry a passenger, Ms Danielle Goh, to her home on 15 December 2016. The driver accepted $3.50 for the hitch ride. A day later on 16 Decemnber, the MINDEF Feedback Unit received an email informing them that the regular was moonlighting as a GrabHitch driver and commenced investigations into the matter.

The regular was eventually convicted of moonlighting and fined $2,000 in lieu of 2 weeks detention.
Singaporean netizens were quick to jump to the defense of the regular serviceman, who many felt had done nothing wrong. Confused netizens wondered if GrabHitch was now off limits for all drivers who had full time jobs and whose companies do not allow moonlighting.
An overwhelming majority also criticized Ms Goh for acting dishonorably by taking the ride and stabbing her driver in the back.

Delay on North-South Line due to track fault; 'not linked to new signalling project': SMRT

SINGAPORE: Commuters experienced delays on SMRT's North-South Line during the morning rush hour yet again on Wednesday (Aug 23).

At 7.32am, the train operator tweeted that commuters should add 15 minutes' additional train travel time from Yew Tee to Jurong East. This was due to a track fault "not linked to the new signalling project", it said.

However, passengers commenting on Channel NewAsia's Facebook page reported far longer travelling times. One Facebook user, under the name Iam Siti Rahimah, said she had been on board the train at Choa Chu Kang MRT station for 40 minutes, from 7.10am to 7.50am. Another, Dean Jaey, said he took 40 minutes to get from Yew Tee to Jurong East, four stations away.

At 8.13am, SMRT revised the estimated additional travel time from Yew Tee to Jurong East to 10 minutes, and at 8.53am, it said that the train service was running normally again.

Earlier, it tweeted at 6.53am that due to expected

congestion towards Jurong East from Woodlands, those travelling towards the central business district were advised to take the South-bound train towards Marina South Pier instead.
SMRT's train lines have been affected by multiple disruptions since its engineers started full-day trials on weekdays to test its new signalling system.

Most recently, the Downtown and North-South Lines were hit by delays that took about three hours to resolve early on Friday, hours after train disruptions during the evening peak period on Thursday.
The transport operator had warned commuters of potential delays as "intensive performance checks" continue.

Woman brutally flogs child until she is wincing in pain and struggling to breathe

A video of a woman brutally caning a young girl has been circulating online. The incident is believed to have happened in Puchong Perdana, Malaysia but it is unclear when this happened or who took the video.Subang Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Mohammad Azlin Sadari, when contacted, confirmed the incident."The victim has been saved and the suspect caught," said ACP Mohammad Azlin in a text to The Star.

Stomper Sundar alerted Stomp to the video in which the woman is seen shouting at the girl who is seated at a dining table. She accuses her of spilling food from her plate while eating and proceeds to rain blow after blow on her with what looks to be a cane. She is also heard shouting, "die, die, die" in Tamil. The girl is crying and screaming in pain throughout the punishment. She clutches at her back and appears in obvious agony as she limps to one side of the kitchen. The woman removes the girl's shirt before leaving the room.

The girl is then seen breathing heavily, trying to catch her breath. The woman comes back only to slap the girl a few times before kicking her to the ground and then roughly pulls a new shirt over a head.
In another video featuring the same woman, she is filmed being questioned by a group of people.
They ask, "Did you hit her?"She then begins to defend her actions but they tell her that no matter what the child did, she should not have hit her like that. She says that the girl used to come over to her house to stay but not anymore. One woman in the crowd accuses her of lying so the men in the crowd ask for the child to be brought there to ask if what the woman was saying was true.

They ask her again why she hit the child like that, but she denies that it was that bad and says she only "swung lightly".The crowd then start questioning another woman nearby and ask if the woman who caned the child is her mother and if she indeed hit the child. The other woman says that she was not there when the incident happened so she cannot say for certain. They then ask her what should be done to her mother.

"Should she be handed to the police or should the crowd deal with her?"They also ask when the incident happened and point out that the woman is wearing the same outfit she was wearing in the video where she was caning the child. The crowd appears to be looking for the girl and her parents but nobody knows where they are.

Toddler slapped and threatened while learning math -- despite asking to be 'taught lovingly'

A heartbreaking video of a little girl being threatened and then slapped while trying to learn mathematics has sparked outrage online. The clip, which has since gone viral, begins with the child reciting numbers "2, 3, 4, 5" to a woman repeatedly. After getting shouted at by the woman, the girl started to break down and implored, "Will you teach me lovingly? My head is going to burst out."
Her various hand gestures further suggest the pain and frustration that she was going through, reported mathrubhumi.com

At one point, she appeared to answer a question wrongly and was met with anger from the woman, who exclaimed, "5?!"Realising her mistake, the girl backed away and seemingly tried to explain herself, only to be slapped by the woman.Clutching her cheek, the toddler continued to recite her numbers tearfully.A Stomper, who shared the video with Stomp, said: "Parents and grandparents who do not know how to teach are ruining the child more than they realise."Rote is not learning and adults drumming [the same thing] in is not teaching."

Several celebrities have also spoken up against the video and criticised the woman for her harsh treatment of the girl.Indian cricketer Virat Kohli wrote on Instagram: "The fact that the pain and anger of the child are ignored and one's own ego to make the child learn is so massive that compassion has totally gone out of the window."This is shocking and saddening to another dimension. A child can never learn if intimidated. This is hurtful."
On Twitter, Hyderabad journalist Vamsi Kaka called it "the most disturbing video he came across" online and added, "Innocence and childhood being taken away in the name of education."

Woman complains of bed bug bites after 2-way S’pore-HK Scoot flights

A frequent flyer has taken to Facebook to complain about bed bug bites on her arms after embarking on two-way Singapore-Hong Kong Scoot flights:
She wrote in an Aug. 12 post to the carrier that her complaints were not addressed, which was why she was making it public.
Hi there, I really didn’t want to post this here but given that you chose to ignore my private FB messages and continue pushing promo stuff on this page – thought this might actually be a better idea.
I took flights TR-2062 and TR-2069 on Tuesday 8 August from Singapore to Hong Kong and back. After I touched down, I noticed my arms and back had a cluster of bed bug bites. As it was a daytrip to HK, these bites could not have come from anywhere apart from the plane.
I’ve taken FlyScoot’s planes a couple of times now so the fact that there are bed bugs on the seats of your planes is extremely concerning for me. I also noticed that this does not seem to be the first time: https://www.allsingaporestuff.com/article/yikes-bed-bugs-infestation-scoot-flight-taipei-customer-recovery-appalling
What’s even more appalling is your careless attitude to what appears to be a serious issue which concerns the health of passengers onboard your planes.
Would appreciate a response, thanks. The woman also uploaded another image of her arm in the comments section of the post:

Previous bed bug bites incident

The previous alleged bed bug bites complaint the woman referenced in her post was from September 2016, on a flight from Taipei to Singapore.

I had one of the worst flight ever. My partner and I was taking a flight TZ201 by Scoot from Taipei to Singapore which was suppose to depart at 1535. However it delayed to 1915 but we boarded the plane only at 1932.
Just like any regular planes, we want a peaceful and safe flight but it turned out to be a nightmare.
45 minutes before landing, my partners’s arm were itching like crazy. It turned out to be bed-bugs bite.
We even saw the bug itself being brown and about 0.5cm on the chair. But we were panicking and didn’t manage to take a snapshot of the bug.
Upon landing, we informed an air stewardess on the flight but she told us to write into the company regarding this matter, however she would inform Scoot on behalf of us as well.
When we called into the company regarding this issue, a Philippino customer service agent named Gino simply told us that there’s nothing we can do regarding this issue and let it go.
He even mentioned that we can simply make a fuss regarding this issue online and let people know about it despite the fact that people can avoid taking this airline again.
We were simply seeking for a solution whether we can do an insurance claim etc. but he mentioned that we can go online and spread the word, make a big hoo-ha about this issue. How unprofessional.
Is there anything we can do about it? http://mothership.sg

Song Joong Ki on Battleship Island and his upcoming wedding

It’s a challenge trying to find a crack in the pristine public image of actor Song Joong Ki, who has been enjoying the most explosive pan-Asian popularity since last year’s hit drama series Descendants Of The Sun.

In his numerous interviews, he has been modest yet firm in his opinions and his self-descriptions are humble. And he has taken on another dashing, heroic role in Ryoo Seung Wan’s war film The Battleship Island.

The 31-year-old actor is at the centre of another media whirlwind – his upcoming October marriage to actress Song Hye Kyo, who co-starred in Descendants.
“I never wanted to get married late,” Song says on what the public perceived as a sudden announcement last month.

The actor had nothing but praise for his intended, saying he had learned from her professionally during the Descendants shoot and later as a person during their off-screen relationship.
“She’s a very thoughtful person,” Song says, also describing the veteran actress as his senior when it comes to Hallyu fame.

“Every part of our lives is being talked about. I’m only human and there are times when I have my concerns. But I think we can deal with (the media) wisely.”
The two are in the midst of “happily preparing” for their wedding, he says. “Nothing is for certain of course, but I’ll probably be thinking about my next project after the wedding. Nothing is in the works right now.”

In The Battleship Island, he plays Park Moo-young, an elite soldier of the Korean Liberation Army and an agent with the United States Office of Strategic Services.

Park infiltrates Japan’s Hashima Island, where hundreds of Koreans have been taken captive and are forced into slave labour in coal mines, to rescue a key independence movement figure.
The character is propelled by a sense of compassion for the downtrodden, Song says.
“At first, he’s a soldier whose duty is to follow orders and complete his mission, and that’s it. But he’s later moved by the plight of the people on the island. His motivation changes as the movie progresses. He later feels he has a duty to save the Korean people.”
The strong sense of responsibility could be a trait Song shares with the character. As an actor whose following has expanded overseas, taking on the sensitive subject of Korean-Japanese history could have presented a dilemma.

“People ask me if I was concerned about foreign fans’ responses before deciding to do this movie. Of course I pay attention to fans’ responses. I’ve reached a point in my career where one photo of me is uploaded on the Internet and all of Asia sees it.
“But I believed that (what the film shows) was just. It’s the right thing to do, which is why I think I wasn’t afraid. It was a small expression of my beliefs.”
The history of Japanese oppression of the Korean people is still worthy of righteous anger, he stresses.

On a day-to-day basis, he describes himself as a social creature who is happy to engage in group activities. “I think that’s why I was able to adjust so well to life in the military,” he says.
His school years also point to a sociable personality. He was student council vice president in high school and an active member of an association of university students’ broadcasting systems while majoring in business administration at Sungkyunkwan University.

Song says the thoughts and opinions of his contemporaries are important to him.“I go to the theatres a lot to see the movies I’m in,” he reveals.“Sometimes, I am sitting right next to someone, so close that I can hear their breathing. It’s fun to see that I’m on the screen and they don’t know I’m right next to them.”

He takes note of the points in a film which evoke the collective sighs, gasps and laughter from the audience.

“After the movie, when people go out talking among themselves, I can hear everything. Sometimes even the bad things.” – The Korea Herald/Asia News Network/Rumy Doo

Demi Lovato talks about mental health awareness

In an interview with iHeartRadio, 24-year-old pop singer Demi Lovato spoke of the death of Linkin Park frontman Chester Bennington, who committed suicide on July 20.
The 41-year-old father of six children had previously opened up about his struggles with depression. Lovato herself has been diagnosed with bipolar disorder, and has a history of substance abuse and self-harm.

“It’s a very unfortunate situation and I feel terrible for (Bennington’s) friends and family, but I know that maybe this will raise the topic into conversation around mental illness, mental health, and help somebody,” she said.

Lovato believes that by sharing her story, she could also help others who are facing the same problems.

“I think it’s very important that people raise the importance of mental health because it’s something that’s so taboo to talk about. The more people know about it, the more people are going to be able to find solutions to what they’re going through.”

The outspoken singer is also aware that she could utilise her fame to do more for an important cause.
“It’s important to speak up about the things you believe in, because your voice will be heard no matter what position you’re in. I just happen to be in a position where more people would hear my voice than they would have 10 to 15 years ago, so I use my voice to do more than just sing.”
Lovato currently has a new single out called Sorry Not Sorry. In a separate interview with Billboard, she revealed that a new album is due this year. Her last studio album Confident, which featured the hit single Cool For The Summer, was released in 2015.
“I’m releasing an album later this year, so my fans can look forward to that. It’s more soulful and I want to go more R&B with it.”

Irene Wan reconciles with her husband

Hong Kong actress Irene Wan recently returned from a family vacation to America together with her husband of 17 years, businessman Kenneth Ho. The trip, which was to celebrate Irene’s 51st birthday, was also said to have been an attempt to save the couple’s marriage, after Hong Kong media reported that they were on the brink of divorce.

A few weeks ago, it was reported that Irene and Kenneth have been living separately from each other for four months. The actress later confirmed in an interview that there was a “change in their marriage” and emphasised that no third parties were involved.

After spending time together however, Irene and her husband managed to reconcile their differences during their trip, as the actress posted a picture of the couple together with their son online recently.
“Thank you for all the happiness and joy you’ve brought me. After laughing and crying together, it turns out that loving [each other] has become our habit. PS (sic) thank you for accepting my willfulness and selfishness, love u always (sic),” Irene wrote in her caption.

Yesterday, the family-of-three were also seen at the airport in Hong Kong, after returning from their trip, where Irene was all smiles as they made their way home together.
Irene gained popularity in the 80s for her role in Cantonese drama Lonely Fifteen but stepped out of showbiz after tying the knot with Kenneth in 2000 and subsequently returned to star in a few productions in 2016. The couple have no kids of their own and adopted a son, Xavier Ho, in 2010.

Shaun Chen and wife welcome second daughter

Shaun Chen and his wife Celine Chin are now the proud parents of two baby girls, after their second daughter was safely and swiftly delivered via natural birth in Malaysia this morning (July 25).
In a phone interview with Toggle and other local media, the 38-year-old actor shared that the timing of events could not have been more perfect. “My wife started feeling contractions last night but they were not severe,” he shared, adding that the pain intensified at 8am this morning, after which he quickly rushed Celine to the hospital.

A while after 9am, Shaun was by his wife’s side to cheer her on, and soon, the baby was out, weighing a healthy 3.65kg and measuring 54cm in length. “I don’t know if it’s because she’s young and strong or what!” he exclaimed in amazement. “We went in at 9am plus and by about 10am, our daughter had arrived. It was a very smooth delivery.”

The reason Shaun praised the timing was because the brood had just arrived in Alor Setar, Celine’s hometown, last night, but his younger daughter “waited” until the next day to come into the world. Because of this, he joked that his nickname for her is “Guai Bao” (“Obedient Baby”).
shaun-chen-family

While Shaun admitted that he was not moved to tears upon the sight of his newborn daughter, his heart ached to see his wife in such pain during the birth. However, he also felt much calmer and more prepared compared to the arrival of his elder daughter Nellie.

Speaking of Nellie, what was the 19-month-old’s reaction upon seeing her new baby sister for the first time? “She looked very confused, as if wondering, 'Why do I suddenly have another younger sister? Then what about all the other 'sisters' that I have seen?'" Shaun recalled with a chuckle.
When asked about his immediate plans after this event, Shaun revealed that he will remain with his family in Malaysia until July 31. After that, he will fly back to Singapore to continue filming Channel 8 drama My Friends from Afar. Celine and their two daughters will join him here after her confinement period.

Now that baby number two has come into their life, will Shaun and his wife be trying for a third child? “We’ll have to see how things go. Taking care of two kids isn’t easy, but we will let nature take its course,” he said.

Shaun tied the knot with Celine in a hush-hush ceremony in July 2015 and the couple welcomed their first child Nellie in December the same year.

My Friends From Afar debuts on November 27, 2017, 9pm on Channel 8.
